KJ Osborne
User Experience (UX) Designer
Writing & Broadcast • Presentation & Training • Customer Satisfaction • Front-End Web
KJ Osborne has spent her career finding out what users really need and then helping them get it. Her curiosity, empathy, and willingness to get to the heart of an issue, along with her diverse background in broadcasting, writing, customer service, and web design/development, give her unique insights into how any product or service can be more user-friendly. Known as the go-to subject-matter expert in whatever field she’s in, she combines her industry knowledge with user experience engineering techniques to deliver products that are easy — even a pleasure — to use.
UX
Most recently, KJ managed the user experience for Broadjam, Inc., a global music licensing company, uncovering client needs and challenges and working with developers to simplify and streamline processes. Enhancements include updated copy, easier-to-follow instructions, an easier-to-navigate website, and simpler, more intuitive ways to make and accept payments.
Front-End Web
Before that, KJ served as Digital Content Specialist for Spectrum Brands, a global Fortune 500 company, working individually and with marketing, brand, and development teams to manage key websites in their Home & Personal Care division, including sites in French and Spanish for our Canadian and South American markets.
Prior to Spectrum, she spent seven years with the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a Big 10, globally recognized research institution. She handled quality control and continuity for outgoing digital marketing and worked closely with the IT admin team to integrate database content and troubleshoot errors. She created and implemented new processes that saved the division costly reprint charges and lost time, and trained colleagues to create and maintain their own department sub-sites. She wrote and produced/co-produced award-winning radio and video promotional materials that increased web traffic and new enrollments.
Radio & Agency Work
Before the UW, KJ worked in radio as a copywriter, producer, and on-air personality in markets across the country including Sacramento, Las Vegas, and the Jersey Shore, where she consistently earned top placement in listener ratings according to Arbitron. Prior to radio she worked at DDB Needham, a San Francisco ad agency, promoting first- and early-release movies for Disney, Fox, and New Line Cinema.
Music & Community Involvement
An avid music lover and supporter, KJ was a volunteer with the Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) from 2019 to 2024, serving as webmaster and event coordinator. She currently volunteers with South Shore Bike Path Beautification and the League to Save Lake Tahoe. She writes and performs custom ukulele songs for weddings, anniversaries, milestone birthdays, and corporate events; her songs have been featured by Intel Corp., the American Automobile Association, and nationally syndicated radio.
Education & Recognition
In addition to continuing education through professional organizations like the American Marketing Association (AMA) and the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), KJ has a BA in Rhetoric & Communications from UC Davis, a graduate certificate in Front-End Web Development from Harvard Extension, and an AA in Digital Art & Design from Madison Media Institute. She has received several regional, national, and industry awards for her web design, copywriting, and broadcast career.
